General

What exactly is 900website? +
We're a small team that builds custom WordPress websites with fixed pricing, starting at $900. We exist specifically to give small and mid-sized businesses the same quality of web work that large agencies reserve for enterprise clients, at a fraction of the cost.
Who is 900website for? +
Consultants, solo founders, small firms, growing businesses, and established companies who want a credible custom website without the $15k+ agency bill or the lock-in of a drag-and-drop platform.
Why did you start 900website? +
We kept meeting small business owners stuck between two bad options: $49-a-month template builders that would trap their site forever, or $15,000 agency projects they couldn't afford. We built 900website to fill that gap with real, custom work at fair prices.
Are you an agency or a platform? +
We're a small agency. We don't run a platform you subscribe to. When we're done, you have a standard WordPress site that any WordPress developer in the world can work with. We're a services business, not a software company.
Where is your team based? +
Across Canada and the United States. Every person on your project is based in North America and works in compatible time zones for our primarily US and Canadian client base.

Packages & Pricing

What's the real difference between the three packages? +
Scope. The $900 Launch Site is one beautifully designed scrolling page, built to generate leads fast. The $2,850 Full Website is a multi-page site with a full design system and copywriting help. The $4,850 Growth Package adds email marketing, social templates, and a launch campaign plan so you have a working marketing engine on day one.
Why not charge monthly like everyone else? +
Because charging monthly creates the wrong incentives. Platforms that charge monthly need you locked in forever. We'd rather charge fairly once, hand you something you genuinely own, and build a business on referrals from clients who loved the experience.
Are there any hidden costs? +
No. Our package prices include everything listed for that tier. The only additional costs you'll pay are hosting and domain registration, which go directly to your host, not to us. Expect $15 to $30 per month combined for both. We'll recommend a host and help you set it up.
How does payment work? +
Launch Sites are split 50/50: half to start, half at launch. Full Websites and Growth Packages are split in thirds: one-third to kick off, one-third at design approval, one-third at launch. We accept credit cards, ACH transfers, and wire transfers.
Can I upgrade after launch? +
Yes. Start with a Launch Site to test your idea, then come back for the Full Website six months later. You pay the difference between tiers, not the full price again.
What if my project doesn't fit into a tier? +
Happens all the time. We'll do a discovery call, quote a fixed price for your custom scope, and deliver it the same way we deliver the packaged tiers. Most custom scopes land between $3,500 and $8,000.
Do you offer refunds? +
If you're unhappy after the first design round and we haven't started development, we'll refund 100 percent of what you've paid minus time already invested in discovery. Once development begins, deposits aren't refundable, but we'll work with you to make the site right.

Process & Timeline

How long does a site take to launch? +
Launch Sites: 10 business days from kickoff. Full Websites: 3 to 4 weeks. Growth Packages: 4 to 6 weeks depending on marketing scope. We hit those timelines because our process is tight and we've been doing this a long time.
What's the process from start to finish? +
Four steps. Kickoff call (day 1), design draft (day 2 to 5), build and revise (week 2 to 3), launch and training (week 3 to 4). You always know what's next, who's on it, and when it'll be done.
How many revisions do I get? +
Launch Sites include 2 revision rounds. Full Websites include 3. Growth Packages include unlimited revisions within the original scope. We'd rather you feel good about your site than fight over revision counts.
What do you need from me to get started? +
A 30-minute kickoff call, your existing brand materials if you have them (logo, fonts, colors), any existing website content, and rough notes on what you want the site to accomplish. If you don't have most of that, we'll help you figure it out during discovery.
Can I see progress while you're building? +
Yes. We build on a private staging URL you can view anytime. No waiting two weeks to see the big reveal. You're welcome to share the staging link with team members, investors, or anyone whose input matters to you.
What if I don't have copy written? +
Full Websites and Growth Packages include copywriting consultation and writing for up to 5 pages. Launch Sites include structure guidance but assume you'll provide the final copy. If you're stuck, we can add copywriting for $250 per page.

Ownership & Hosting

Do I actually own the website forever? +
Yes. You own the design, the code, the content, and the files. At launch we hand over admin access and every file related to your site. If you walked away the next day, nothing we built for you stops working. Contrast that with most drag-and-drop platforms, where stopping your subscription takes your site offline.
What happens if I want to move hosts or agencies? +
No problem. Your site is standard WordPress, not a proprietary platform. Any WordPress host or developer in the world can take over. We'll even help with the handoff at no charge if you decide to move.
Where should I host my website? +
We recommend Cloudways, SiteGround, WP Engine, or Kinsta depending on your traffic and technical needs. We'll suggest the right one during the build based on your situation. All are independent hosts where you own the account directly.
What if I already have hosting? +
We'll work with what you have as long as it supports modern WordPress. If your current hosting is causing performance or security issues, we'll flag it and recommend alternatives but we won't force you to switch.
Who owns my domain name? +
You do, always. Register your domain directly through a registrar like Cloudflare, Porkbun, or Namecheap. We'll help you configure DNS during launch but we never want to hold your domain hostage. If you don't have one, we'll help you pick one.
What files do you actually hand over? +
Everything. Full WordPress installation backup (files plus database), source files for any custom graphics, logins for all services, editing credentials, and documentation for ongoing updates. If it exists and it's related to your site, it's yours.

Support & Maintenance

Can I edit the site myself after launch? +
Absolutely. We build with a clean editing experience that non-technical people can actually use. The Full Website and Growth packages include a one-hour training session so you leave knowing exactly how to update pages, add blog posts, and change images.
What if something breaks after launch? +
We include 30 days of post-launch support at no charge. If something we built breaks in that window, we fix it. After 30 days, you can either fix it yourself, hire any WordPress developer, or subscribe to our care plan.
Do I need the care plan? +
No. It's entirely optional. Plenty of clients manage their own sites after we hand them over. The care plan exists for people who'd rather not think about security updates, backups, and monthly tweaks. It's $89 per month and you can cancel any time.
What's included in the care plan? +
Security updates to WordPress core and plugins, weekly off-site backups, uptime monitoring, basic malware scanning, and 30 minutes of content updates each month. Additional work is billed at $125 per hour or priced per project.
Can you add features to my site later? +
Yes. We're happy to quote additional work after launch. Fixed price for the scope. No retainer required.

Technical

What CMS do you use? +
WordPress. It's the most widely supported CMS in the world, powers over 40 percent of the web, and will still be around in ten years. It gives you editing flexibility and means any WordPress developer anywhere can maintain your site.
Why WordPress specifically? +
It's mature, well-documented, and portable. The alternatives are either proprietary platforms that trap your site or modern frameworks that require ongoing developer involvement just to update content. WordPress is the right balance of power and editability for most small businesses.
Do you use page builders like Elementor? +
No. We build custom themes with the native WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) and Advanced Custom Fields where needed. Page builders add bloat, slow down sites, and often break when plugins update. Our approach gives you a faster, cleaner, more maintainable site.
How fast will my site be? +
We target sub-2-second page loads on every site we ship. We tune image delivery, caching, and CDN configuration as part of the build. Fast sites convert better and rank higher in Google. It's not optional.
Is my site accessible? +
Every site we build targets WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. Real contrast ratios, proper keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, screen reader testing, and accessible forms. For clients with specific regulatory accessibility requirements, we can do a more rigorous audit for an additional fee.
Can you integrate my CRM / email tool / scheduler? +
Almost certainly yes. Common integrations (HubSpot, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Calendly, Stripe, etc.) are straightforward. More exotic integrations we'll quote separately. Ask during the kickoff call.
Can you build e-commerce? +
Yes. We add WooCommerce as a $950 add-on to any package. That covers product templates, cart, checkout, and payment gateway integration. For complex stores with hundreds of products or specialized needs, we'll scope custom.
